At present, enabling access to justice for individuals who lack the necessary means and are harmed in their essential rights has become a highly significant issue.
In line with our Firm’s mission of building “a better community” and with the belief that the legal profession determines the ethical duty to help others, we provide the same level of excellence in legal assistance for those in need.
As a result, our Firm has created a sector exclusively dedicated to pro bono activity. This area is led by Gustavo Torassa, one of the partners at our Firm, and it is coordinated by María Victoria Tarzian, who ensures that all the cases get the attention they deserve.
Our pro bono work focuses on three areas:
• Children at Risk: We advise 5 NGOs, which help children whose parents cannot take good care of them or are at risk of being neglected by their parents. Our objective is to ensure these children’s right to a life with stable, loving families as soon as possible.
• People with special needs: We manage insanity and disability pension proceedings for 3 NGOs.
• General advice to NGOs: We guide organizations through the registration and incorporation so that they can start operating.
In November 2007 along with other firms in the Americas, we signed the Declaration of Pro Bono Work for the American Continent. As a signatory member, our Firm has made and met the commitment to donate at least 20 hours or three days of pro bono legal services for each individual attorney, on average, every year.
Additionally, as an active member of the Pro Bono Committee of the Buenos Aires Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires), our Firm has generated activities and promoted development of pro bono work.
Moreover, the British publication Latin Lawyer and the Cyrus Vance Center for International Justice of the New York City Bar Association acknowledged Bullo Tassi Estebenet Torassa Lipera Abogados as one of the firms who leads in their commitment to Pro Bono work in Latin America: http://www.ebullo.com.ar/eng/ampliar.php?t=4&id=648
Thomson Reuters Foundation published the data of the survey "Trust Law Index of Pro Bono" ranking Estudio Bulló as the law firm with the highest number of Pro Bono hours performed in Argentina. http://www.trust.org/spotlight/pbi14/?tab=introduction
Hence, the combination of excellent attorneys and the best intentions for the benefit of those in need has given, and we expect, will continue to give, the best results in this field, which translates into specific assistance and the great satisfaction of doing something to improve the community we live in.
